A Madeline First

Happy Birthday sweet Madeline! We had a great day, but you did refuse your nap...so you were pretty tired most of the time. You were awake enough to know I put something on your head. You hate hats, and Birthday Crowns are no exception. We had an apple themed party with apple desserts, lots of apples, apple cider, and red & green decorations. You had on a beautiful apple dress with your name on it.

You had lots of friends come to your party and they all had a great time playing with your toys. You played some, but mostly watched.

(Can you see how we got that crown on her head without her knowing?)

And then it was time for cake! We made you a banana and apple cake with cinnamon apples on top. You didn't get messy, sorry for you smash cake fans, but you really loved the cake. Your friend Liberty helped deliver the cake and make sure you opened your gifts on time.

You didn't know what was happening when everyone started singing "Happy Birthday," but you had the biggest smile on your face when they said your name.

You  were perfectly happy to sit up in your chair and eat your cake while everyone else played. You looked down every now and then as if you were peering down at your subjects.

And then it was time to open gifts. You started to get into this part. The mixture of paper, ripping, and finding toys made this a fun game.

What a wonderful day! We were so lucky to have so many Madeline friends come over. The weather was perfect and much fun was had.

Love you little ONE-one!

11 Months

Madeline, you are 11 months. Today you are actually just a few days away from being a whole 1 years old. I took picture of you this month, but the xD card broke in pieces when I went to transfer them. You were holding an apple in them and didn't smile at all because you were busy eating. So, instead of those pictures, I am going to use the pictures we took while we picked apples today for my birthday. You aren't smiling in these (cross between eating yummy apples and being very tired).

We have had a busy month. You went to the hospital a few times when Daddy was sick, but you got to see Grandma Crank and she got to see you take your first steps. You are still wobbly and only take a few steps before you fall on your bottom or your hands, but you like to keep trying.

You are a fantastic eater, but kinda picky. Your favorites are still apples and bread, but you are enjoying cheese, pasta, peas, and sunbutter.

You are talking a lot, even if we only understand a few of the words you say--hello, ya (yes), na (no), heer (here), tha u (thank you).

Some weeks you sleep great at night and some weeks I am awake with you for several hours at a time. I blame it on your two top teeth that are about to pop out at any time.

But you are pretty cute, so we will keep getting up with you whenever you need us to.

Love ya baby,
Mama and Daddy
