Madeline at 2 Months

Madeline is 2 months old! Time for the stats:

Length
Birth: 20 inches
Now: 24 inches

Weight
Birth: 7 pounds 13 ounces
Now: 14 pounds 2 ounces

Special talents
Laughing for the first 20 minutes of the day, blowing awesome spit bubbles, and hiccupping for hours on end

Crying
You cry before almost every nap time and especially before bedtime. I think you hate to go to sleep— you might miss something fun.

Sleep
At night, you wake up 2 or 3 times to eat, but you fall right back to sleep. You also nap frequently throughout the day, most of the afternoon.

Dislikes
Going to sleep, sleeping anywhere that is not in mom or dad’s arms, and car rides at night

Likes
The color red, your black and white picture of a baby's face, lying on your back, shadows, and of course cuddles

Firsts
You rolled over, belly to back, and you’ve done it 2 more times since then. You don’t want daddy to see it though.
You celebrated two major holidays this month as well—Halloween (you were the Very Hungry Caterpillar) and Thanksgiving (you wore a turkey hat all week).

And for those who are curious, here's Madeline's 1st Month photo and see her stats from then here

The First Thanksgiving (for Madeline)

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! We had a great first Thanksgiving with Madeline in our new home.
Madeline started this day much like all of her other days, with a nap! Side note: we do not let her sleep on the couch, it was just this one time to take the picture, promise.

When she woke up she was all smiles!

We watched the Macy's parade. Well, we watched the parade, Madeline watched us.

And then we had some good cuddle time before an explode-a-poop covered her sleep sack.

With a wardrobe change, she was ready to take on the task of watching Dada act like the silly man he is!

It was also a nice day for a walk. It was cold and overcast, but beautifully covered in snow. We got about a foot the day before.

And then is was time for dinner! Grandpa Tom purchased our Thanksgiving dinner from our local grocery store. It was completely cooked dinner and we just had to warm up. It was perfect and delicious.

We even had three kinds of turkey!
Turkey turkey

A turkey on a cake

And a turkey head

After dinner, it was time to start the count down to Christmas

and bedtime!

Christmas Wish List

Let me start by saying that I am not asking for gifts...I know that Andy and I wouldn't mind if we didn't receive any gifts at all. We are excited just to see friends and family this Christmas. However, I know it is inevitable that Madeline will receive a present or two...cause buying gifts for babies is the best part of the holidays! Since you never know what to get kids or what size clothes they wear, we have created a wish list on amazon.com that we plan on keeping for as long as we can. We are excited for Madeline to be able to put her own things on there as she gets older...with maybe some editing from mom and dad!

The list is full of ideas. These are not necessarily the exact items we want or the only things we'd like to get; it's just ideas. We do prefer toys made of natural materials such as wood. The toys on the Wish List were chosen because they will meet her developmental needs in the next few months. Clothes, another adorable baby item, are fantastic as well. Winter will come when she fits into size 3-6 months, spring when she is 6-9, and summer will be 9-12 months. She is growing fast though, so who knows for sure.

So, without further ado, here is the link to Madeline's Wish List. Hope it helps!

American Fashion 101: The Blue Jean

Madeline is outgrowing her 0-3 month clothes already! She's not even 2 months old yet!! But that means we get to open up the next tub of clothes. Say hello to blue jeans! And I just had to document her first jean experience:

So cute, obviously!

Then I tried to put her on her belly to capture her rolling over.

Oh, did I not tell you, Madeline rolled over this morning! I thought it was a fluke so I rolled her back over and she grunted her way to her back AGAIN!

I went to get the video camera...which wouldn't turn on, and then my camera, but she wasn't having it.

I think the only reason rolled over is because she hates tummy time.

Maybe next time.

Behind the Scene Photo Shoot

Every week we take a photo of Madeline to document her growth and cuteness. This is her 7 week photo:

Its amazing how quickly she grows. Here is her 1 week picture:

Can  I get a collective "Ahhhhh"?

In the last few weeks, when ever we take her picture she starts smiling and laughing. It is so difficult to capture it in a photo because she moves a lot. Now we got a video camera and we can share the fun with you! The good stuff happens around second 50. We are still playing around with quality, so be patient with us.

Looking at Pictures

We are still working on playing. So far Madeline's independent play consists of looking at black and white pictures.

But she could stare at them for minutes!

She likes talking, laughing, and yelling at them.

They make her think.

But more importantly, they make her happy...for about 10 minutes at a time.

Madeline is 1 Month

Our sweet girl is a month old now. It has gone by quickly, but it seems like she's always been here. It's been amazing to watch her grow and notice the little changes everyday. They grow so fast!

Length
Birth: 20 inches
Now: 21.5 inches

Weight
Birth: 7 pounds 13 ounces
Now: 9 pounds 5 ounces

Special talents
Eating, getting attention from complete strangers, peeing in between diaper changes

Crying
When you’re hungry, want to look in another direction, and almost always before bedtime

Sleep
For a newborn, you are a great sleeper! 3 hour stretches at night and several longer naps during the day

Dislikes
When you don’t smell boob milk (or baby bacon as your dad likes to call it), being put in your car seat, being held by lots of people

Likes
The picture frames behind the couch, the musical giraffe above your changing pad, the sunroof in the car, warm baths, and cuddles

Firsts
You are smiling, mostly in the mornings, but only for a moment or two.
You started laughing, usually when you look at your black and white pictures.

You were visited by Grandma and Grandpa Crank, Grandpa Tom, and Aunt Jessica this month. You are very loved.
