4 Month Randoms

Like most parents, we take lots of pictures when we remember. Here are some highlights of the last month:

 We like to spend time laying on our mat looking at cool stuff. Mostly we hang out on our back or stomach. 

 "I like laying around. You got a problem with that?"

 We also finally got our sheepskin back from the tanners. A friend gave us the skin from one of his sheep and it took awhile to process. Its super soft and warm, so it's perfect for our lil' Madeline. 

 "This feels nice mom, but remember, I like to lay on my back."

 Then we try to sit up. The boppy is great to cushion the fall. 

 "I just need to get this bunny and put her in my mouth." 

 

 "Can't you see I'm busy. Get that camera outta here!"

 "Now where was I?"

 I can't even begin to tell you how much fun this girl has in the tub! I'll just let the faces tell you:

The other day we tried a sensory basket. You place different things in a basket or bowl and let the child touch/play. I kept a close eye on Madeline so she didn't put anything in her mouth, but she was really into it. She didn't look up at all the whole time. 

We tried smooth rocks.

And split peas. 

And washcloths...she's not a fan of the washcloths. 

Dad did that!

Madeline at 5 Months

 Madeline is 5 months old today! Let's break it down:

Weight

Birth: 7 pounds 13 ounces

Now: probably around 20lbs...we've got a big baby

Special talents

Grabbing your feet (we were afraid you wouldn't be flexible enough to do that)
Sitting up on your own
Eating whole apples and bananas (with help)
Laughing hysterically at the dog
Being generally cute

Crying

You cry when you get hurt, like when  you fall down from a sitting position. You still cry before you go to sleep most of the time. You also whine when you don't get enough attention.

Sleep

You are a good scheduled sleeper...I can tell what time it is by when you get sleepy.  You nap 3-4 times a day and you go to bed by 6:30 or 7:00. You wake up a few times at night, but are awake for the day at 6.

Dislikes

Rolling over...that's for babies; going to bed; not getting food in your mouth fast enough

Likes

All of the animals, especially Allie; anything you can eat; raspberries on your belly; things that are within your reach; drinking water from your glass

Firsts
Eating lots and lots of foods--you've had rice, oats, apples, bananas, avocado, squash, and peas

Birth: 20 inches

Now: 25 1/4 inches

Weight

Birth: 7 pounds 13 ounces

Now: 18 lbs 10 oz

Special talents

You are not a thumb sucker, but you are an index finger sucker! You are great at grabbing things out of our hands and putting them in your mouth, especially food like apples and bananas. You started going to work with Mama and you have everyone there hanging on your every coo and watching every wobble.

Crying

You cry before most naps and bedtime. You HATE going to sleep.

Sleep

We started a bed time for you around 6 or 7 since you have to be up so early to go to work. Hopefully you can stay up late enough to see Dada before you go to bed. You wake up 3 or 4 times a night.

Dislikes

When the cats and dog are out of your reach and they won't come to you.

Likes

You LOVE standing up, with help of course. You like animals, mostly Allie.

Firsts
You ate your first foods. The apple was first and then a banana.
You started working at a local non profit. They love you there and you do great work. 

You survived a week without Dada! While he was gone you went to the largest indoor water park in the Northeast and went on a weekend trip to New Hampshire with Mama.
